الرّحمن
The Most Merciful,
One of the Names of Allah.
He is the One who created, provided, decreed and restricted out of His Mercy.
Even His justice is a form of His Mercy.
In Surah al-Furqan, He called all those who believed in Him عِبادُ الرّحمن – the slaves of the Most Merciful.
Allah attributes the teaching of the Quran to Himself and gave teaching of the Quran precedence over the creation of mankind and teaching him speech in Surah ar-Rahman
الرّحمٰن
علّمَ القُرآن
خَلَقَ الإنسَانَ
عَلَّمَهُ البَيان
The Most Merciful
Taught the Quran
Created the humanity
Taught him speech
The One who taught Adam عليه السلام the names of everything also taught us the Quran.
When we are blessed with its recitation, memorisation or simply the companionship of this Book, we must remember that it is from His Mercy and His greatest blessing that we have His guidance in the form of Quran with us.
How are we going to thank الرّحمن for His gift of Quran today?
‘When we are blessed with its recitation, memorisation or simply the companionship of this Book…’
Subhaanallah, I admittedly haven’t noticed how wonderful it feels to have it beside me all the time until reading this post. It really doesn’t feel like a book at times.
The closest way I can think of with being thankful for it is to hope for a meeting with Him.
‘… whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord – let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone.’ (Al-Kahf; 110)
