The companions of the Quran are known by their seriousness and maturity among their peers. Allah opens the hearts of His slaves to His Book so that they begin their learning following the footsteps of the Prophet ﷺ when he taught the companions.
They would sit together and learn from one another so that they learnt the Speech of Allah correctly, and understood the right meaning behind the Words of Allah.
Anyone who follows the path of learning with no teacher, no instructor, or mentor, he will misunderstand the intended meaning behind the Words of Allah and spread false information even if he claims to have read books on his own without a guide because he will come to his own false conclusions.
Sahabah رضي الله عنهم never belittled the knowledge gained from others and applied it with all seriousness in their lives. The Quran is to be studied as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught it to his beloved companions.
