What I learnt in 2020

I learnt that we need to pay attention to our hearts.

Healing takes time and a lot of silence.

Throwing yourself into busy work doesn’t mean your pain will disappear and you’ll heal – give yourself the emotional space you need to recover.

Quickly forgiving someone for betraying you will be better for your dunya and akhirah instead of holding onto the anger and hurt.

Forgiving doesn’t mean you’ll heal immediately – you’ll need to take your time and realise that you’re far more blessed and closer to your Lord than any oppressor will ever be.

You’ll be tested in many things, sometimes, everything. Deal with your tests and move through the troubled waters to calmer shores.

Patience is beautiful because it helps you in finding hidden treasures inside yourself, the people around you, the experiences you had, and the world at large.

The only way to stop any pain in your life is to accept the fact that nothing is yours, nothing was yours, and nothing will ever be yours. They are worldly attachments given by Allah, belonging to Allah, and will be returned to Allah.

  2. Asalamualikum,
I am so deeply attached after reading your blog & I am so sorry you went through such feeling.
“And whatever strikes you of disaster—it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much” (Qur’an, 42:30)
Allahumma ajirni fi musibati wa akhlif li khairan minha

    1. I shared it originally on a sister’s page because I felt others would benefit from this. It’s a process and life happens, realizations make us more grateful and humble that we don’t control everything – Allah does.
